As many different plants as possible are planted and a lot is left to nature itself to create habitat for animals, especially insects.
For our permaculture garden, we have chosen an area of 1,600 square meters in close proximity to our main kitchen. Of course, it's great when you can pick vegetables, berries, fruits, herbs and salads exactly when they are needed. This eliminates the need to order, transport and inspect incoming goods. It also saves space in our cold storage, and related energy.
